the river is dropping like a rock right now and is flowing at 217 CFS. it is still fishable upstream from town, all the way to the wilderness. lots of decent reports coming from the "Blue hole" and all downstream. traditionally we catch lots of big bull trout this time of year on dolly lamas and other big streamers, but there has been so much pressure this year that some guys have been having to throw big nymphs on indicators to convince a few to strike.

Better than normal trout/bull trout/and bass fishing this spring. Like the Wallowa River, the trout are fatter than normal. Unlike the Wallowa, the salmon flies have arrived in good numbers on the lower/mid river. Lots of bull trout throughout the system this year (a fisheries biologist said the Imnaha has 3000 whitefish per mile)! No wonder the bull trout get so big on the Imnaha.
