High Lakes General Information:
"Gods Country". That's what you will be thinking after hiking into the marvelous high lakes of the Wallowa mountains. Starting at 6 miles all the way up to 15 there is a lake for all ages. However don't let all this beauty take your attention to long for there is fish to be caught. The "High Lakes" in the Eagle Cap Wilderness are full of some of the best brook trout around, with some rainbows to be found. Plan on eating them - nothing better. Take a selection of flies, incl

Wallowa Lake General Information:
If you find a more stunningly beautiful and serene glacial moraine lake, let us know. Wallowa Lake is a truly sacred local place. The lake is deep, cold, and impossibly clear. That means that it doesn't harbor the plant and insect life to be a true blue ribbon trout lake, but you could do worse then spending an even at the river in-let on the south end fo the lake swinging nymphs and fishing with Bald Eagles and Osprey. And, if warm enough for a swim, well, there isn't a b

Kinney Lake General Information:
A great little (20 acre} 10 miles/15 min from Joseph. It is much easier to fly fish from the shore, and is more fertile than Wallowa Lake. Although it is privately owned, the public is allowed to fish from shore or from small water craft (there is no boat launch - you must drag your water craft a short distance to the lake). THANK YOU TRIPLE CREEK RANCH FOR LETTING US FISH! ODFW manages the fishery. In 2015 they poisoned the lake in order to kill the "bullheads" who were

Lostine River General Information:
The Lostine River is a local treasure for anglers, horse packers, and hikers alike. Folded into a deep mountain canyon with the Eagle Caps soaring upward on either side, if this river lacks anything, it more than makes up for it in unsurpassed solitude and beauty. Evenings spent fishing the Lostine are an example of the purity of mind, body, and soul that we can find when fishing. If you are willing to scramble down the canyon, and trek up the boulder strewn river bed you

Imnaha River General Information:
One of the most remote regions in Oregon, the Imnaha river runs 73 miles from high up in the Eagle Cap Wilderness until it joins with the Snake River a little down stream of Doug bar. Amazingly, nearly all of this rugged river is accessible by trail and roads of varying condition. The Imnaha canyon is spectacularly scenic in its entirety; from gin clear deep pools high up stream surrounded by mountains, to craggy canyon country surrounding the quaint community of Imnaha and

Grande Ronde River General Information:
The Grande Ronde River known locally as "the Ronde", simply put, is an amazing river. We'd argue that an October float trip from Minam to Troy to fish for bows' and Steelhead should be on any serious anglers bucket list. It can offer stellar trout fishing in early summer when the rafts are thick and the water is cool, turns into a good small mouth fishery below Troy later in the hot summer months, and transforms once again into a regional magnet for steelheaders beginning i

Wallowa River General Information:
General Info: The Wallowa River is our "bread and butter" water. It begins as snow melt high in the Wallowa mountains and its flows through the upper and lower Wallowa valleys. From an incredible June golden-stone hatch, through ‘ October caddis madness, to solid winter and spring steelhead numbers this river does it all. The best part? The most productive water is all public access! Back down highway 82, approximately 30 miles (40 min) from Jseph is the stretch of wate

06/27/26 Marr pond repot
Marr has been fishing great at all times of day, especially in the late afternoons and early mornings. we have been catching lots of 10-14 in fish on smaller sizes of stimulators and elk hair caddis. the bigger fish seem to not want to surface as much, so try sinking some small pheasant tails or copper johns for a bigger bite.

Imnaha River Early June Fishing Conditions and Tips for Anglers
Better than normal trout/bull trout/and bass fishing this spring. Like the Wallowa River, the trout are fatter than normal. Unlike the Wallowa, the salmon flies have arrived in good numbers on the lower/mid river. Lots of bull trout throughout the system this year (a fisheries biologist said the Imnaha has 3000 whitefish per mile)! No wonder the bull trout get so big on the Imnaha. Come by our shop to buy one of our whitefish flies. As for bass, they are being caught arou

Wallowa River Fishing Report for Early June, 2026
Wallowa River flowing through forest in early June The Wallowa River is fishing great this spring. CFS flows of around 600 allow both floating and good bank fishing. Guides floating the river this past week reported lots of "fat/feisty" trout in the 11" to 14" range. Right now, it is pretty much a stonefly/dropper nymphing scene, but salmon flies are just starting to show up - so consider using a big orange chubby as your strike indicator. Euro nymphers fishing just off t

WALLOWA RIVER FISHING REPORT EARLY JUNE 2026
The river still high (600 cfs) but fishable/floatable. It is mostly a nymph scene, but with some caddis and stonefly hatches - which may allow you to use a large foam stonefly for your indicator. A guide friend who floated the river this past week reported his clients caught lots of bows - mostly in the 10" to 13" range. AND ANOTHER FRIEND, an expert euro nymph fisher, showed me a series of pictures of the biggest Wallowa trout I have seen (all 25" to 30" hogs weighing upw
